3rd KL BB Boys involves in 23rd Sports' Day of SMKTD

It was the 23rd Sports' Day of SMK Taman Desa. Band members and march past BB members arrived as early at 6.45am at Block G. Of course, everyone's faces were filled with excitement because we're gonna show the school what we were made of, after months of practices, not just for this Sports' Day, but also for the arriving 19th National Pesta.

The school assembly started at 7.30am, no speeches but orders were given instead. Students went down to the field while we, the march past participants, falled in at 'ARENA WIRA' and get ready for the march past.

Noticed something people? this year, our band seems sort of..hmm...longer? Well indeed it is larger now because this band is the team representing 3rd KL for the band competition in Pesta! Not forgetting our recruits whom also took part in the march past, thank you for putting up so much effort to do well in the march past.

After every respective squads marched into their places, the opening ceremony was next then followed by sports events like 100 meter sprint and so on..

Turns out, Green House(SATRIA) was the overall champion this year! Personally i was quite happy because i belong to SATRIA itself. And for the march past, PBSM(Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah got 3rd placing, 2nd was St. Johns! and the champion was Kadet Polis, again.

This year's Sports' Day ended early because of smooth running of the events. Dismissal was at 11.45am.

Hari Gotong-Royong at SMKTD

SATURDAY, February 6, 2010

SMK Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur- Once again, SMKTD had its annual gotong royong. On this day, some of our 3rd KL BB members helped in beautifying the pond which belongs to 3rd KL.

The day started of with 3 period of lessons before recess. After recess, the gotong-royong 2010 was made offical by YDP PIBG, Mr. Chang Kim Loong. Later on, a few of our boys went to the pond for work.

Everyone there was separated to do different work. We did things like pulling out the grass that is blocking the words BB that were made of bricks and also grass that was overgrown so that our pond and surrounding areas will look neat. Also, a few of us swept away the fallen leafs that were around the pond. Boys with long hands used a shovel and took away all the unwanted stuffs from the pond while others planted some new plants that were contributed by ourselves.

While school workers were cutting the grass, it was dangerous so all of us went and rest. Kin Phan and Wai Hong contributed money and bought cold drinks for everyone. On the BB notice board side, Charn Chuen, Ewe Jin and Leng Hong took of everything and planned for a new look for the notice board.

Around 12.00pm, every student gathered back at the hall and gotong-royong SMKTD 2010 ended with Mr. Chang Kim Loong doing the school cheer.

To all members who had helped today, thank you so much in bringing glory to 3rd Kuala Lumpur Company.

An Evening With 3rd Kuala Lumpur Company Boys' Brigade(Fund Raising Event)

SUNDAY, January 10, 2010

Pusat Komuniti Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur- Today, excited and happy faces were seen as every boy arrived at PKSP around 10.20am. Its was because today is the day that we show the people who had faithfully believed in us, that what we were made of. Everyone helped unloaded the instruments, water bottles, music stands, etc. etc. After that, the band members falled in and did some warm-ups and practices with their instuments. Boys who weren't in the band assisted with other jobs, backstage crew, confetti poppers and so on. After having our lunch, everyone did a full rehearsal of today's event. Everything was polished up to a good standard.

'UP!' Sgt. Charn Chuen shouted, and with his drum beat, we started playing Estancia with woodwind instrument players and trumpetiers doing the formation, while others played with their full commitment.

Our conductor, Mr. Joe walked on to the stage, gave a bow and all of us sat. Our first song was Apple Pie, then going on to Aku Cinta Padamu, followed by Yesu, and lastly, When the Saints Go Marching In with singing. Also, we played Tequila as requested.

All in all, it was a successful event for 3rd Kl BB. Thank you for all your support and once again, thank God for his blessings on us!

2009 Hari Ko-Ko Drill Performance

Champion of the KO-KO Drill Competition.
3rd Kuala Lumpur Company Boys' Brigade~

Annual Ko-Ko Drill Competiton

A comment from one of the judges..

"However, the Boys’ Brigade has a slight edge over the Police Cadet Corps. The strong team spirit shown by the Boys’ Brigade was their winning factor. It was especially apparent when the loud staccato sounds from their hobnail boots echo in unison throughout their drill movements." (extracted from www.smktamandesa.edu.my)

SMKTD Sports Day 2009

After weeks of preparation, the SMKTD Sports Day 2009 has finally arrived. However, this 22nd Sports Day would seem to be a little bit more special…

At 7.30, we started the marching with a few songs, namely “Perajurit Tanah Air” and “Mighty Band of Brothers”. In between the songs, the drummers played a few songs too, such as “Drummer’s Boy”. This year, the band had a new instrument called the Marching Bell which was played by Pte Stanley Chia.

In the meantime, the recruits were marching past under the commanding of Pte Edrick Cheok. The flag bearer was Rec Edgar Koh. Also, 10th KL’s Ssgt. Eunice Lim had the honour of carrying the SMKTD flags with the 7 other uniform bodies representatives.

After the march past, the band was told to perform another song to replace the senamrobik for the VIPs. We played “Tequila”. The VIPs loved it and clapped their hands. Soon after that, everybody kept their instruments and changed to sports attire except for a few who forgot to bring or did not want to change.

The Red House was the champion for Inter-House Marching while the Blue House was the overall champion. For the uniform bodies march past, the champion was the Police Cadets and seconded by the St. John Ambulance. The 2nd runner-up was won by the Boys’ Brigade. Since everybody else already changed into their sports attire, Pte. Stanley Chia retrieved the hamper on behalf of the Boys’ Brigade. The 4th place was won by the Girls’ Brigade and the Red Crescent Society.

In the hamper, we received a big bottle of 100 Plus and a lot of junk food. The hamper was shared by the whole company. All in all, we were all very happy for this was the first time the Boys’ Brigade actually got something for Sports Day. In fact, it’s a first in history.
