Pn. Ng Siew Tuan Retirement Ceremony

After the rehearsal of the ceremony, it was finally time for us to do the Guard of Honour (GOH) for Pn. Ng Siew Tuan, our first Penolong Kanan Kokurikulum (Senior Assistant for Co-curriculum). There were a total of 21 of us, which included the morning session and the afternoon session.

The event began at 10.00am on the 9th of January 2009. All of the uniform bodies took their positions including us, the Boys’ Brigade. We were positioned the nearest to Arena Wira. We saluted under the command of Sergeant Tiang for Pn. Ng as she walked into the hall area. She was lead by two snare drummers, namely Corporal Justin Goh and Lance Corporal Ng Charn Chuen. After Pn. Ng has entered the hall, we all got out of our positions and sat down and watch the ceremony.

It started with speeches given by the Headmaster, the PTA chairman of SMKTD, and several others. They were speeches to thank Pn. Ng for serving in SMKTD for 10 years, which of 6 years she was Senior Assistant of Co-curriculum. Before she got promoted, she was Head of the English Panel.

A number of programmes were specially lined up for the guest of honour, Pn. Ng. It included the drum line performed by us the Boys’ Brigade. We performed the drum line, in which only had drums making rhythms that sounds really good and perfect. There were 2 bass drums, 3 snare drums, 1 cymbal and 1 quad-drum (4 drums) player. It was led by the quad-drummer, Corporal Justin Goh. Many of the students and guests enjoyed it. After that, there were the Chinese orchestra and MTE performing their songs too.

After that, in order to honour Pn. Ng, there was a cake-cutting ceremony for her. It was to celebrate her 10 years of service in SMKTD. After the cake-cutting, we took our places again for the Guard of Honour again.

As Pn. Ng walked out of the hall, many of the teachers hugged and embraced her for the last time. Then she was led out by the two snare drummers again, and we saluted. However, this time we made the line longer so that the uniform bodies line would last until the car park area. Then, Pn. Ng drove away.

We hope that you will retire happily and fulfill your dreams of traveling Pn. Ng! We will definitely miss you and you will forever be in our hearts.
